Are you still in school? Or are you looking for a career change?
Imagine entering the job market—and basically knowing there’s a job waiting for you! Doesn’t that sound great? Well, this is entirely possible, so long as you know what kinds of jobs are going to be in demand for the foreseeable future. Here then are five top jobs with very bright prospects:
1.Wind turbine technician: With the drive to replace fossil fuels with more sustainable energy sources, the need for professionals in wind, solar, and hydro energy is rising. Wind turbine technicians will see the highest increase of all jobs between 2014 and 2024, with their numbers more than doubling! To become a wind turbine technician, you’ll need to graduate from a technical school. In addition, your employer will likely provide on the job training. Wind turbine technicians make around $51,050 per year.
2.Registered nurse: Our population is growing older, and an increasing number of people suffer from age-related conditions and chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, and arthritis. It’s only logical then that healthcare is currently one of the fastest growing industries in the Germany. The number of registered nurse jobs will increase by 16 percent by 2024. To become an RN, you need an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in nursing, or you can earn a diploma from an accredited nursing program. An annual salary is approximately $67,490.
3.Commercial truck driver: With the recovery of the economy, America is transporting hundreds of thousands of tons of goods every day. However, a large number of truck drivers are nearing retirement age—and that means there will be an increased demand for professionally trained commercial drivers for the next decade or so. To become a commercial truck driver, you need your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Most fleet operators provide additional training, depending on what types of goods they transport. According to Patrick Gillespie in the CNN Money article “Truck drivers wanted: Pay $73,000,” commercial truck drivers can earn as much as $73,000 annually.
4.Software and application developer: Technology plays an increasingly important role in our professional and personal lives. With everything from cloud computing to smart machines to wearables to apps, software and application developers will be in high demand to create, build, and improve ever-more sophisticated software. To become a software developer, you need a Bachelor’s degree in computer science; a diploma from a reputable training program; or demonstrable work experience. Software and application developers make around $100,690 per year.
5.Information security analyst: Due to the fact that practically every company uses digital methods to communicate and store data (including sensitive data such as customers’ personal and financial details, as well as proprietary intellectual information), the government has established stricter compliance regulations pertaining to the security of information. As a result, there’s a growing demand for skilled information security analysts to both design new IT security measures and maintain security within companies’ systems. If you want to become an information security analyst, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. You can also complete a reputable diploma program and earn relevant work experience. These professionals typically make around $90,120 per year.
There are many more fast growing jobs, especially in the fields of healthcare and technology. And while some require a college degree, there are also occupations such as physical therapy aides, home health aides, web developers, and commercial vehicle technicians that you can apply to with just a professional certificate or diploma and work experience.
